Pro tools Vs Logic
69
There are many options when it comes to recording software or otherwise known as Daw (digital audio workstation) the two main contenders are pro tools and logic. So which one to choose when both of the programs do basically the same thing? What are some of the main differences and why would you want one Daw verses the other? With that being said there is high debt who the best DAW is Pro tools or Logic?
When it comes to the creative side of music it has long been accepted that logic is better for creative purposes. For example Adam Young from the hit band Owl City wrote and recorded most of his music in logic in his basement. This is just one example but why is it better for creative purposes. First off Logic pro offers more of a “band in a box then pro tools current does however that is slowly changing with the coming of pro tools 9 which has just be released. It also is more flexible and complete software instruments and DSP effects out of the box.
Another reason why people prefer logic is that you can use any interface you want without spending tons of money and can be used with any Intel mac there is no additional Cost. Unlike pro tools you will have to buy proprietary hardware to buy such as an Mbox Pro or fast track pro to interface with pro tools all of this adds up and is more money that is needed to be spent. If you are looking to buy a pro tools hd system system you will be looking at even more money it is not uncommon to spend $10,000 just to get into an entry level Pro tools HD system.
On the flip side pro tools has been the industry standard in professional recording for quite some time and pretty much any major release has had pro tools touch it. It works better for video editing and is better known if you plan to do any serious recording you will have to know pro tools inside and out. Also pro tools is better for tracking and editing music so if you’re working with a band and it is pretty straight forward it will be much simpler then logic. Either way check out both programs they are both great and should be around for some time to come

I think I would have to go with logic. I wonder if either of these have an iPad app? When I watched a video about a DJ who makes music using a pair of iPads I was quite impressed, and I think that's a vision of where we're headed for the future.
